I’ve been talking a lot about how to use the summer and enjoy the gift of “free time” that it brings. From reveling in carefree unstructured days to helping ourselves and our families get on some new systems and routines before the craze of the new school year. Well, I’m here to also share and offer a gentle reminder of calm and patience. It is often shared that it takes 21 days to form a new habit. However, that number is in fact the "the minimum amount of time needed to adapt to a new change.” “New research from a study conducted by Phillippa Lally, a health psychology researcher at University College London shows that... ...on average, it takes more than 2 months before a new behavior becomes automatic — 66 days to be exact." (JamesClear.com) So, how does all this connect with parenting? Well, each of us is on our own journey towards working on our parenting – seeking ways to improve, make it better or new ideas or approaches that’ll stick and work. Let this number, 66 days, remind us that it all takes time. Be patient with yourself, be forgiving and most of all (especially in the times we slip up) don't judge. It's hard to go at it alone, which is why I've created the “Stop Battling & Start Connecting” 5-module program in collaboration with Joanne Tsianos. This is about getting real, getting concrete and shifting our mindset to re-wire the internal dialogue that manifests in all our “Do’s and Don’ts” of our parenting approach. What you’ll learn …
This is the time to get back on that horse and follow through on your commitment to yourself and your children. Changing your parenting habits will have its good days and bad days, but that doesn't take away from the forward moving steps you're taking on those good days. Manage your expectations and embrace the truth that this is a process that takes time and self-discipline. Knowing what it takes to make new habits a reality, dive into these summer days creating incremental steps towards progress. The more we practice all the new language, approaches and techniques as discussed in detail throughout the course, the more we make new permanent habits to our parenting. Again, this takes practice – 66 days to be exact! Each module is designed to see progress and change with achievable bite-sized content and action steps to ensure your success in implementing the lessons from this program!! Accountability is everything and we can even weave in more personalized time so you can maximize every aspect of the program! Just click to ASK ME HOW. Take the Summer to Make a Lasting Impact! |
