In Spanish the expression "La Sobremesa" is theperiod right after a meal when family and friends spend time sharing conversations or anecdotes. Often times folks can spend an easy hour or more talking, laughing and telling stories before someone starts to leave. This Latin tradition is one I've upheld in my family and it's something I've been thinking quite a bit about over the past 2 weeks. Spring begins next week! Such excitement as we ring in the second quarter of the year marked by the season's call to renewal and growth. Ready to make some internal and external renewals? Next week I delivery another mini workshop for NYC's Department of Ed and this time it's on this very topic of growth and renewal. Neither of my children have heard my story that I wrote and published last year. I asked my son, "Do you remember that mommy is also in a book?" He looked up with a smile and said, "Oh, yeah! I forgot. Mommy, what does your book say?" So, I ceased the moment and got my copy of "Today's Inspired Latina". We snuggled in his bed and he excitedly flipped the pages to my chapter.

For some of us the school breaks are a welcomed interruption from the routine, but for others it's even more stressful to think about "what to do with the kids all day for an entire week?" Well, if you attended my workshop last week and learned about the 7 Levels of Mindful & Conscious Parenting or even read my free download, I invite you to ask yourself what "level" does the above question sound like? |
